Description

  • Perennial
  • Persian Catmint originates from the Caucasus Region, Turkey, and Iran.
  • It has aromatic, grey-green leaves and bears long-lasting spikes of small violet-blue flowers.
  • Persian Catmint grows up to 25-30 cm when in flower and spreads to 45cm in a neat mound.
  • It is a good groundcover and perfect for rockeries and as an edging for paths.
  • Persian Catmint is easy to grow, very hardy and requires little care – it is almost pest and disease free.
  • It is versatile to various soil types and climates and needs well-drained soil, full sun and will also tolerate afternoon shade.

For Animals. It is said that

  • Cats are generally attracted to Persian catmint.
  • While not as strongly intoxicating as catnip (Nepeta cataria), Persian catmint still contains nepetalactone, which is the compound that cats find attractive.
