Description
- Perennial
- Pelargonium quercifolium "Royal Oak" is indigenous to South Africa.
- It is a hardy, drought resistant, balsam-scented shrub with striking oak leafed shaped, maroon veined leaves.
- The oak leaf shaped leaves give this species the name 'quercifolium'.
- It also bears gorgeous dark pink to red flowers almost all year round.
- The flowers attract insects to the garden.
- It makes a useful container plant with its dense foliage but is also a very good house plant.
- Pinched it out at almost anytime to keep it small and shapely.
- Plant in full sun or half day shade and, importantly, plant them in well-drained soil.

- Dried Pelargonium leaves are added to potpourri and to insect-repellent sachets.
- The bruised or crushed leaves release a warm, pungent aroma rather like incense.
